8 Things You Should Know

Well friends, it is one of those moments again when there are lots of things in my head that I would love to make sure you are aware of so here we go!

  1. All our Children’s and Youth Ministries starts up again today (Friday) for Term 4. I am looking forward to hanging out with the Year 3 boys on Friday afternoon and I know our other leaders are excited about catching up with the young people. Please be praying for all our leaders and programs.

  2. Share Life Mondays begin on Monday at 7pm. I am so excited about this. Come yourself. Bring a friend. Bring a family member. We all know stories about Jesus but do you know why paying attention to him really matters? That’s what Share Life Mondays will unpack. Come and join us but please register because dinner is on us. 7pm Monday. Register here.

  3. We start our new series on Song of Songs this Sunday. Now if you know anything about this love poem you will know that it is a brilliant but challenging read for a variety of reasons. A massive thank you to Gerard who has written the Growth Groups material and helped prepare our leaders. So you know, our plan is to deal with the book exegetically in Growth Groups and thematically in church, allowing us to deal with a variety of issues both pastorally and personally in their best setting. I am really looking forward to this series.

  4. Celebration Sunday is on 17 November. This is the day we celebrate new life in Christ together as a church. We combine our morning services and meet at 9.30am where we have baptisms. We have a Confirmation and Baptism service at 4.30pm and more baptisms at Nights. If you are interested in being baptised please contact Elliot or me as soon as possible.

  5. There are lots of Staffing Changes coming up as the year draws to a close. I have previously shared the news about Di Lucas’ role at church finishing up at the end of this year. We are looking forward to having a thanksgiving lunch for Di’s ministry among us on Sunday December 8. More information about this will be out soon.

  6. Pete Oates has been our Children’s Minister for the last two years while Lauren Dewhurst has been completing her Bachelor of Theology at Moore College. I am super excited to announce that Lauren will be returning to work with us in 2025. I am also excited to announce that Pete has been appointed as the Junior School Chaplain at Arden Anglican School from 2025.

  7. Josh Hayward has been a significant part of our team for the last eight years and we will be sad to see him go in 2025. Josh and Claire are heading to All Saints Petersham as he continues his Moore College Study. Likewise, Luke Morris, who has been a key member of our team for four years, will be continuing his Moore College study in 2025 but heading to Mosman Village Church with Courtney and JJ. We are looking forward to welcoming Ben Williams as a student minister in 2025. Ben is married to Beth and with their daughter Noah, they will be joining us one day a week while Ben finishes his Moore College study.

  8. Thank you for your response to my previous newsletter pieces about our giving in 2024. While giving has increased we remain behind and over two Sundays coming up I will be seeking to encourage us to bridge the gap. Please pray prayerfully about your possible response.

Well, I am sure there is more I could have said because there is always lots going on at church. To see a full rundown, check out the What’s On page of the website.
