Ministry Training

Christ Church St Ives has a great history of training and sending people out to serve the Gospel. One of our strategic priorities for the next five years is to recapture the commitment and passion to train and encourage men and women for a lifetime of ministry.

We seek to do this in three ways:

Ministry Traineeships

People who are ready to consider fulltime vocational ministry are encouraged to apply to do a 2-year Ministry Traineeship to help discern whether ministry is right for them. We will train and equip them for ministry and help them prepare for further theological education.

  • Phil Claridge

  • Steph Shumack

  • Bec Abraham

Student Ministers

People who are studying at a theological college are encouraged to apply to become Student Ministers. We give them experience in a variety of ministries including opportunities to preach, all while training and equipping them for the long term.

  • Ben Williams

  • John Brackenbury

Honorary Associates

People of all ages who are keen to be involved in ministry part-time in the next phase of life (following a move to part-time work or retirement) are encouraged to apply to become an Honorary Associate. We will train and equip them in ministry and where appropriate look at theological education pathways.
