Accessibility
Christ Church strives to be a welcoming community. Whether you are a regular attendee or visiting our church, we seek to provide an environment that is supportive and enables you to participate in all aspects of our church activities.
We welcome people with all kinds of accessibility needs, including children and youth.
Our prayer is that you and your family will feel a sense of belonging and inclusion in our church community.
We believe it’s important that we listen to you, to find out how we can help to make your experience of church one where you feel included in what we’re doing here each week.
So that we can provide any additional assistance not listed below, please contact our Membership Director, Caroline Litchfield, caroline@christchurch.com.au
Accessibility Features
Here is some information about our church’s accessibility features that we hope you will find helpful for when you visit our church.
Accessible parking
A number of designated accessible parking spaces are available in the church car park.
Accessible entry to buildings
A ramp is provided from the car park to the church landing where access is available to the main auditorium and other upstairs meeting spaces.
An additional ramp is available into the downstairs meeting rooms.
Our Connect Team members (wearing a lanyard) would love to help, so please ask them for any mobility assistance. We also have a wheelchair available.
Hearing Loop
The main auditorium is fitted with a hearing loop (sometimes called a hearing induction loop). The hearing loop provides a magnetic, wireless signal that is picked up by the hearing aid when it is set to the 'T' (Telecoil) setting.
There are two separate copper loops in the main auditorium: one that runs at the front of the room and one that runs at the back of the room, both across the centre seating areas. Sitting towards the front or the back of the centre seating area should provide the best results. Please ask our friendly AV team leader at the sound desk if you have any questions.
Accessible seating
An accessible seating area is available in the auditorium with ample space for wheelchairs and walkers if required. See one of our Connect Team members for help.
Accessible toilets
A unisex wheelchair and ambulant accessible toilet are available along the covered outdoor corridor on the right-hand side. Please ask a Connect team member for directions if needed.
What to expect on a Sunday
You may find it helpful to know what to expect during our Sunday church services.
At each of our Sunday services we pray, listen to announcements, sing songs/hymns and hear a part of the Bible read and explained.
Additionally, the 9.15am Morning service has programs for Children (creche up to year 5) and Youth (year 6 to year 8) and Mandarin translation. All youth are welcome in church but the program is only up to year 8 on a Sunday morning. A cry room is available for those with younger children. Morning Tea is usually served after the 9.15 service outside (or inside if inclement weather).
More details about each of the Sunday services and the Children’s and Youth program are available here.
Children and Youth
We provide Children’s and Youth programs which cater for those with additional needs and disabilities. When parents/carers register their children for one of our programs, we will ask if there are any specific needs they may have. This will help us to partner with parents/carers to provide helpful care and support to their children.
If you have questions about the Children’s and Youth programs, please contact Peter Oates our Children and Families Minister, peter@christchurch.com.au Our leaders would love to chat with you.
On a Sunday, please speak to a Connect team member (they will be wearing lanyards). They will be able to provide helpful information or connect you with the right person.
