Let’s continue to Share Life

Share Life Sundays have been incredible.

It has been a great privilege to be trusted to preach the Gospel to your friends and family, work colleagues, and neighbours. Thanks for your encouragement over the last three weeks as we looked at the way Jesus is enough.

The series ended with us considering Zacchaeus - the man who climbed up in a tree to see Jesus and work him out. We saw that Jesus spent time with sinners like Zacchaeus because he had something for them.

Jesus spent time with sinners like me because he came to save sinners from eternal death.

Jesus knew that we could never do enough or be enough for God.

But his life was enough. He is enough.

So at the cross, Jesus saved me.

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

Over the three weeks I was particularly encouraged but the number of people who said to me, I prayed for my friend but didn’t get a chance to ask them. Or, I prayed and invited my friend but they said no. Yes, 168 new people have come through our doors in recent weeks, but 100s more have been prayed for and invited and all of that is what Share Life is about.

Share Life is not about a moment, a program, or even three special Sundays. Share Life is a way of thinking about ourselves and our world. As believers we can be sharers of life to all those around us all the time and it all begins in prayer. And this is what has been most exciting and encouraging to me over the last three weeks - people have been praying that God would be at work, and he has been. And he is. And he will be in the weeks, months and years ahead.

Every Sunday we gather as a church to worship Jesus as Lord together and that makes every Sunday a moment to invite someone along to hear the life-changing good news of the gospel. Share Life Sundays have finished for 2022, but you can still pray and you can still invite friends every week. We try to make every Sunday service accessible to guests and we love them to see our church family in action and to taste and see that Jesus is enough.

Many people also said to me “My friend really needed to hear that talk.” You can send them to the website watch any or all of the three talks. You can always watch the whole service via our Youtube channel.

I am also aware that some of you and some of your friends have indicated that you are still up in the tree where Zacchaeus was, still trying to work Jesus out. Well, make sure you come along to Question Life. Bring yourself, bring a friend, join the conversation. It’s a four week opportunity to sit in the tree with others and think about who Jesus says he is and what we should do about it. Learn more and RSVP.

So let’s continue to Share Life - because it is not a program but a way of thinking - let me encourage you to continue to pray for those who you know who are still up in the tree, that they might move from loved but lost to found and saved.
